Reflections on live illustrating the More In Common In Action event
I had the pleasure of attending the More In Common In Action event in Manchester, hosted by the Jo Cox Foundation. It was such a positive and inspiring experience, and I’d love to share a bit about it with you!
The branding was a joy to work with: a beautiful color palette and playful squiggly imagery! The event itself brought together members of the More In Common Network, who are groups from across the UK doing incredible work in their communities. From building connections and sharing culture to creating community spaces and collective power, these organisations are making a real difference. It was inspiring to see everyone come together to share ideas, progress, and just get to know one another.
One of the highlights was a thought-provoking keynote about the far-right in the UK. The speaker explored the reasons behind certain behaviors, how we can better understand people, and what we can do to prevent violence and hate. It was a reminder of the importance of dialogue and collaboration in tackling complex issues.
As for my role, I was there to provide live illustration for the event. It’s always a joy to capture energy and ideas in real time, and I’m thrilled that the organisers found it useful. Feedback like that is what makes my work so rewarding!
“Vicky was a great addition to our event. Our message was perfectly captured in Vicky's illustration. We loved that our branding colours were used for the illustration to really make it feel like an extension of our work. The attention to detail was thoroughly appreciated.”
